2001 - SOLO AGAIN - LIVE IN HOLLAND

Gold Circle has a brand office in the Netherlands, which might be the reason that brings John for a short promotion trip
to there in September 2001. He stops at several radio stations for interviews and crowns that short happening with a one-time but breathtaking performance at Zoetermeer on September 27, 2001.

The Boerderij is only a small battle ground with a capacity for approx. 750 visitors. John has already won the fan´s hearts before he has even sung the very first chord. As a support, he brings along only two musicians of his band:
Buck Johnson, keyboards and guitar, and Damon Johnson (Brother Cane), guitars. „The Johnson Brothers”, John jests in an interview, „the two of Alabama.“ Buck and Damon are not related to each other and John´s comment arouses laughter every time whenever some radio DJ tries to get to the bottom of their names, not only at Dutch radio stations.

It is the very first unplugged gig for John and he sings the BAD ENGLISH classical tune „Time Stood Still“, assisted by acoustic backing only. This song wasn´t planned and John hardly remembers the lyrics so they download them from the internet and it´s gonna be a howling success. „Masterpiece of Loneliness“, however, is planned but John discontinues. He won´t sing that song. „... too sad“, he apologizes. The fans take it easy.

John Waite is impressed by the great feedback in Europe and surprised at the same time. „It wouldn´t have been possible without the Internet“, he knows. „The internet is a fantastic ting. I mean, it´s worldwide! And my fans have always been there. I stepped out on stage and performed, without having a new CD out and they were there. Honestly, where would I be without them? I mean, the time between ‚Temple Bar’, ‚When You Were Mine’ and ‚Figure In a Landscape’ - where would I be without my fans? They've been with me through thick and thin.
They're like my family really.“

More European tour dates are on the plan and John is highly motivated. Understandably enough he mostly looks forward to England: „On November 13, we play the London 'Garage' “, he beams with joy and optimism.„And if possible we do a small club tour through Europe. Great Britain, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. Gold Circle is very keen on me doing stuff outside America. It's the first record company that is very interested on that.“
However, things turn out different. Like oh so many times.
But before that...
