1976 - THE BABYS - THE FIRST ALBUM

Erstes Album 1976

Between 1976 and 1980 THE BABYS release five albums. The debut "THE BABYS" they record in Toronto / Canada. The two veterans Brian Christian and Bob Ezrin (Kiss, Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Peter Gabriel) produce it.
The first single „If You´ve Got The Time“ is to be released in the USA and Great Britain. Drummer Tony Brock delivers the Lead-Vocals on his own for the sorrowful ballad „Over And Over“. A beautiful and pensive song with timeless lyrics. Unfortunately, this album doesn't get that far.

Meanwhile the band name brings trouble. Another band had themselves BABY for four years and they´re determined to take legal measures to force THE BABYS to change their name. In the meantime THE BABYS have been invited to the famous Mike Douglas Show and other well known shows in America. Their appearance at Midnight Special, however, was going to be shown in a taped segment only because of the legal differences.

In late 1976 the four Brit guys -- still known as THE BABYS which won´t be changed in the future -- do a short tour through the United Kingdom. Meanwhile punk rock gains the public´s attention and, highly talented though it is,
THE BABYS´ raw and well thought out Rock´n Roll fails.Later on, however, during a USA tour they will be welcomed much more enthusiastically, but this is another chapter...
