ADDITION In August 2004 John Waite releases his long awaited album „The Hard Way” on his own label No Brakes Records, which has been announced as „John Waite - John Waite” in late October 2003. „The Hard Way” is a digitally remixed version of his 2001 album „Figure In A Landscape” (partly), including two new tracks and „Missing You” as an acoustic version. The new tracks are the title song „The Hard Way”, which is an uptempo rocker, stating that John doesn´t think about retirement at all. An additional video appears. “The Girl From North Country” is another well done tribute to Bob Dylan. Surprising, however, „The Hard Way” gains much more (American) acceptance than „Figure In A Landscape” two years before, and one might wonder where all this attention has been at that time... Every now and then the talk of a new release is brought on the table, sometimes it´s supposed to be a Greatest Hits album/Compilation, sometimes it´s supposed to be a Live album. At least the „remastered & reloaded” rerelease of his first solo album „Ignition” sees the light of day. At the last minute Rock Candy Records succeeds to win John for a „track by track analysis”, which has been the reason for the delay from November 2005 to January 2006. So the result, „Ignition – Collector´s Edition“ turns out great, it includes a well done 16 page booklet but very special highlight is the high standard of sound. Later that year the mystery becomes reality – there definitely will be a new CD: “Downtown – Journey of a Heart”, includes nine The Babys/John Waite songs that have been completely re-recorded an re-arranged, and three new songs. Release date is July 07, 2006.
During 2004 and 2006 John Waite crosses the USA to play live practically everywhere. Almost five years after his very first solo concert at Zoetermeer´s Boerderij (Holland) he is invited to rock Lichtenvoorde in Holland at the Arrow Rock Festival. Highlight of his short trip to Europe is going to happen one day later – on June 10, he returns to Zoetermeer to play the Boerderij again. Fans from all over Europe will gather because there are no other tour dates scheduled for this part of the globe...
