„I LOVE  MUSIC  AND  IT  HAS  NOTHING  TO  DO  WITH  MONEY“

„I am past the point to do it for the reasons that move you when you start to have success. I simply enjoy making music and I don't have a lot to prove.“

These words, spoken in 1986 have lost none of their validity and may it sound somewhat arrogant to some ears - whoever had the chance to see John Waite live and is familiar with his music, knows he is true.
He knows 'em all, the Ups and Downs. Musically as well as personally. What, however, draws himself by his life like a red line is his absolute love to the music and the honesty with which he approaches it. Not always to the record companies´ pleasure ... But exactly this is what makes him that exceptional. He doesn´t want to be dictated by anyone (anymore) and this strength of character is reflected in his music. His fans highly appreciate that.

John Waite can refer to plenty of faithful supporters, who have accompanied him by all heights and depths through his meanwhile twenty-nine years continuing career. No matter whether he celebrated first successes with The Babys and „Isn´t It Time“ or as a solo artist who climbed the charts, asseverating „Missing You“, playing huge arenas with
Bad English and „When I See You Smile“ or finally performing with new awareness „Downtown“ in smaller venues. John Waite is familiar with every stage. „For me there´s no difference anymore to play the Wembley Arena in front of 20.000 or the Londoner Marquee Club with a capacity of only 500“, he states lowly. Who belongs to the lucky ones who have been ever able to see only one of his live shows knows: John Waite is one of those exceptional singers who capture soul into the music and not simply warble a couple of lines.

Various setbacks over the years haven't discouraged him even if sometimes it may have looked so. On the contrary, it nearly seemed that these disappointments have made him even stronger. He continually came back to succeed what counts for him really - his music. „Rock´n Roll comes from the bottom of your heart“, he states. „I don't have to wear a pair of fucking king leather pants, jump up and down and scream my head off. This is not Rock´n Roll.“

John Waite knows what he wants...
