John Waite Live in Zoetermeer/Holland, Boerderij After
the show
While the audience was shouting for more the stage has been dismantled.
Menno Schaap tried to swallow a bitter pill of disappointment because he brought a bunch of records with him that he
wanted to be signed by John but John ignored his outstretched arm after the final song...
The setlist that was given by André, John´s Roadmanager (according to Wouter´s website) and that stated that he
actually prefers to give it to pretty girls
might have been a slight consolation. It is safe to say that Menno is no girl but with a wink André handed him the setlist.
Me for myself, I was thirsting for at least 3 liters of water when Paul looked
at me with a grin that said,
"What did I tell you?" As I said before, he was at the Lichtenvoorde Festival the day before and beaming with joy he had particularised
his impressions to me in the afternoon right after arriving. (He was one of those lucky ones that
watched the soundcheck.) During the Zoetermeer show I turned around to him every now and then and twice
we gave us high five. Something that you can´t express with words...
Willem packed up his things, not without showing me some of the great pics he took. Wow...
may I buy them? I´d love to publish them on waite4you!!! "You don´t have to buy them",
said Willem,
"You´ll get them for free. All I´m asking for is a link to my website." That angel. You can buy his photos, of course,
as paper prints and if you want to create a John Waite photo wall, make sure to get the right ones on
www.willemklopper.nl. As for me, I´ve already found my favourite...
There´s also a John Waite photo book/album in work, please contact Willem for
more info.
Paul then said that John possibly comes out for a Meet & Greet. What? Where do you know this?
He pointed at André, saying, chances are 50/50 but... "if so give him some time to calm down."
Aha. Okay. Well let´s stay a little bit longer. In the end I had a present for John...
I was dragging myself to the bar to finally quench my thirst when Anita appeared
and gave me two coins.
I had already realized this strange method of payment and in fact that I had no coins I had no other choice to accept
Anita´s. Thanks Anita. The (unopened) bottle of water that André gave her a short while ago and that might have been
John´s, Jimmy´s, Anthony´s, Sean´s or Billy´s, she emptied long ago, and she was
joking, "If I should keep it?
Maybe John held it in his hands..." Sure, sell it on eBay, you remember
Britney Spears´ bubble gum, don´t you?
So I was staring lost in thought at the smaller concert poster above the bar, sipping my water that wasn´t by far enough
to balance two hours dry air, mixed with artificial fog, and tried to digest the past hours´ impressions.
There was no thought about a report like that. Actually I didn´t even think about writing a concert review,
otherwise I would have prepare myself in doing so. Paul came over and said, "when you can´t have the big one
(poster, it was already promised to Wouter´s daughter Lammie)
you will get at least this one."
He ignored my veto, and went to get it.
I thought about Michi and how he´d think about adding a 7th John Waite poster to the 6 others but I was pretty sure
that he wouldn´t mind about replacing one of them. By the way, didn´t I say that my Michi is the best husband in the world?
Wouter came over, introduced me to a slender, blonde man, whose name was Adrian and disappeared again. Oups? I had no idea who
this Adrian was and I could hardly understand him, what made me doubt about my command of english, and after several
(4...)
tries to submit his concern I finally got it: Adrian Pounce, so his full name, came over
from London to meet Kevin Scott (exactly, the "No Brakes Fanzines" Kevin Scott)
in Holland and then go together to the Arrow Rock Festival, and now he
presented best wishes from Vera... Picture this: Adrian Pounce, who came down from London doesn´t know Vera
from Germany,
and Vera doesn´t know Adrian Pounce. Adrian and I also never met before and despite all this her greetZ reached me.
What a crazy world...
When some well-known redhead then suddenly appeared at the stage door, it
definitely was no mirage, (which has been no wonder because of the dry air I was suffering) no hallucination and
no wishful thinking. It was John Waite. |
